Trips
A trip to the highest point of Oman and the Arabian Peninsula. Not technical, but at those temperatures easy things become problematic . On the ascent we chose our own route across a few small wadis , downhill we followed the rim of the Saydran Gorge - a side wadi offering truly spectacular views into the Wadi an Nakhur - Oman's Grand Canyon. Except for the goats, lizards and birds not a...
This walk is based on the "Trekking path through Al Jabal al Akhdar Villages (W18b)" walk described in the Oman Trekking guide by Explorer. It was supposed to be exactly the same walk but the route we took might be slightly different in some parts. There are painted markers to show the way though every so often we needed to back track when we got off track. Not a problem, it was...
Absolutely unique experience. The wadi ( as gorges are called here ) is 3 - 4 km long and a few dozen cm to a few meter wide. Much of its bottom are water filled pools thru which you have to wade or more frequently swim. Time required to negotiate the canyon depends mostly on the time you spend deliberating how to get into the water - whether to jump from a...
Road from Wadi as Sahtan to Yasib is as spectacular as can be. The ride was in places hair-raising with its hairpin turns over open precipice or along a narrow ledge with a few hundred meters of vertical wall on side. And sometimes it is REALLY steep . On the other side of the broad Wadi as Sahtan we drove a new graded road over Jabal Dhawi leading to 3 or four houses...
Drove to Daba, Oman through Dibba from Dubai. Oman visa was not required at the checkpoint in Dibba. We picked up our guide who took us to the dropoff point . There is a nice restaraunt under construction right next to the drop-off.
The paragliders land on the beach next to the SixSenses Luxury Resort.
We were unlucky to find low winds but the view was breathtaking.
My 3rd day on bike. I followed the trail until there were no more trace. I will be difficult if there are no trails of vehicle since the round rocks here are very big. The track of the vehicle compact the rocks for you for a little easier for you to travel on your bike.
started 2:17 at Al Qurum, traveled 3:44 minutes including one stop to take pictures at one point where we saw a small village house curve from the side of the mountain. Travel length is 254 km. We arrived 6pm chasing the sunset. I suggest to leave early to take pictures for some scenery along the way.
From Rustaq, I was trying to go to the point near Jebel Shams but we were lost some where. I forgot to prepare to mark waypoints for the turns. I am new in using the gps. We will try again next time.
Nice trip through Wadi Ray, starting shortly after Omani border post.
Oman LNG, Qalhat Complex is located just Outside Sur Town.We took a trip from here to the Coffee Planet Outlet in AL Maha Petrol Station and then went on to the Best Sur Restaurant in the Beach of Sur in the Golden Gate Bridge.
