Trips

Day 5, 3rd july 2012. Kinsarvik to Geiranger. We allowed ourselves a bit of a lie-in this morning, up at 0730 hrs for a breakfast of porridge, good wholesome food to start the day off right. Tents packed and all ready to leave at 0900hrs but Chris had to chase up a German BMW owner who had borrowed his jump leads the evening before to go and start a bike at the nearby ferry...
Day 7, 5th July 2012.Asen to Yttervik (near Mo i Rana).Nice early start today, the sun was up from before 3am, I believe, but we surfaced at a more respectable 0700hrs. I had a lot of photos to upload and I'd been told that not all the photo links between Everytrail and Flickr were working so spent some time loading the photos directly to Everytrail. All working now :-)Porridge for breakfast then...
Day 8, 6th July 2012.Yttervik to Sorkil.Up at the now usual time of 0700hrs, well rested and ready for another day on the road, bacon butties for breakfast then cleaned the hytte before setting off at about 0900hrs. First stop was for petrol in Mo i Rana, the next filling station is about 70 miles north so not taking any chances... Leaving Mo we follow the signs for Polarsirkelen, Norwegian for Arctic...
Day 9, 7th July 2012.Sorkil to Birtavarre (Kafjordbotn).Slept in a bit this morning but still up before 0800hrs. Washed, showered, had breakfast of porridge and cleaned the hytte all before 0930hrs. On the road to Bognes and the ferry across Tysfjord to Skarberget, we arrived shortly before 1000hrs, just as the ferry was leaving, however the next one was only 30 minutes later. As it happened the ferry from the Lofoten Islands...
Day 10, 8th July 2012Birtavarre to Nordkapp.Sunday morning but still up at 0730hrs to get ready for another day on the road. The weather is ok...ish, dull with a few sunny patches but windy and cold. Today is special though as we should arrive at Nordkapp after just over a week travelling by road and sea from Northern Ireland.Fed, watered and ready for the road just after 0930hrs, left the hytte key...
Day 11, 9th July 2012Nordkapp to Inari.Up at the now usual time of 0730hrs and went through the familiar routine of breakfast and cleaning hytte, saddled up and ready to roll by 0930. Followed the local policeman in his van to the one and only filling station in Honningsvag, us to get petrol and him to get what looked like a fairly dubious hot-dog lol... All fuelled up and off we went,...
Day 16, 14th July 2012.Koppang to Oslo and ferry to Denmark.Easy start this morning as we only have about 160 miles to go, I have planned a route that avoids the main road for much of the way, hopefully on good roads with little traffic. We are packed and have the hytte cleaned by 1000hrs and head south as the rain starts... it soon stops though and the sun begins to appear, briefly...
