From Nagano Station to Shiga Kougen via Suzaka, Obuse, Yudanaka. It was the very tough route for Tandem Bicycle with Child Trailer.
This was my highest hike to date at 3,067m. We tried for the summit of Mt Ontake a few weeks ago when we started at the Hida-Osaka trail head but we were turned back by weather and time constraints. I'm very happy to have tried again.Mt Ontake is Japan's second highest volcano and the 14th highest mountain. It is host to five crater lakes, two of which (Ni-no-Ike and San-no-Ike) have a...

Wikipedia:Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park
It was my first time to go hiking in Northern Yatsugatake. One of my friends who is absolute beginner planned to join us at first, so I chose this course since we seem to be able to feel the atmosphere of high mountains despite its small difference of altitude. I was thinking quitting Mt.Tengu anytime if the beginner's pace of walking is slow and then continuously enjoying the hike with Nyu and...
When staying at my wife's close friend's place in Ueda, I went hiking in Mt.Tokko which is very near their place. There are several ways to go to the top, but I chose the shortest trail at this time since I didn't have enough time. The trail was sometimes steep and narrow, but basically was not so danger. But the leaves were totally fallen and hid the trail sometimes, so beginner hikers...
Great fun and real powder with a Rotemburo (natural outside hotwater spring) to sooth your aching muscles after the climb. The food and sleep is great in the Renge Onsen Huette. But be aware that the snow depth may be around 5 meters in March - and that there is no way in or out besides by your on Skis (or Snowshoes). This is real adventure.
