In 2011 was mijn (bijna) jaarlijkse fietsvakantie in het 'onherbergzame' IJsland. Hoewel ik het land al jaren op mijn verlanglijstje had staan, hebben het weer, de grote afstanden tussen voorzieningen en de slechte wegen me er tot nu toe van weerhouden om er te gaan fietsen.
Our first day in Iceland. We landed in the afternoon and after our transfer from Keflavik airport to our hotel, were whisked off for a three-and-a-half hour electric bike tour of Reykjavik. Clockwise circle around Reykjavík, Kópavogur and Garðabær. Starts with an easy climb to 140m up Elliðaárdalur to Vatnsendi, then threading the coast on mostly nice asphalt and some gravel tracks that are right by the sea.

Hjólað í vinnuna frá heimilinu að Skipasundi 86 út í Ísal. Alls 37km. Villtist svolítið á leiðinni suðureftir um morguninn, en fór aðeins styttri leið heim. Fyrri leggurinn var 19.3 km og tók 62 mínútur. Seinni leggurinn undan vindi var 17.7 km og tók 50 mínútur.
Og aftur var safnað kílómetrum í Hjólað-í-vinnuna. Farin aðeins önnur leið, en samt er erfiðast við að hjóla milli Reykjavíkur og Straumsvíkur að rata. Alltaf er maður að taka einhverjar lykkjur vegna þess að ekki var valin rétt leið. Var kominn hálfa leið út á Álftanes þegar ég loks gat farið niður í Hafnarfjörð. Tók ranga ákvörðun (beygju) í Engidal við Actavis. Gengur betur næst!
