Second hiking day. From Refugio Pehoe to Campamento Italiano, there we pitched the tent, left the backpacks and hiked the Valle del Frances up and down with the small backpacks. The weather was incredible. Big ice blocks were falling from the Glaciar del Frances the whole time with huge "cracks". The panorama at the end of the hike was great!. We spent the night in the campamento italiano by the river.

The last day of the hiking. We woke up very early in the morning (about 4 am) and walked up to Las Torres to watch the sunrise. Sleepy as we were, we forgot to switch the GPS on :-(The effort was really worth it, even though it was very cold and windy up there. We took a couple of pictures and went down to have breakfast at the campsite. Then we packed...

But we could not cross the glacier we found and went back to the campamento. We had the visit there of a fox. Nice animal.

Third day of the Torres del Paine hike. From campamento italiano to refugio Chileno. It is a long walk carrying the whole backpack. We planned to go to refugio Torres but changed our mind when we arrived at the short-cut to refugio Chileno. The last kilometers up were hard for us, but we think it was the right decision.
I had to spend some days working in Santiago and was informed of the opportunity to climb the Cierro Provincia by tomwelbury writing at TravelPod - http://www.travelpod.com/. In Santiago Fabio Stingo, a good friend and collegue, confirmed that the hike was a good one indeed. It was in the middle of the winter, 10 to 20 cm of snow only above 2100 m: be sure to have boots, I had running...
