Sandilands - Purple Trail
by headstump on Apr 20, 2010
Sandilands, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 2.4 miles
When the glaciers receded over 10,000 years ago they left behind huge ridges of sand, thus the name Sandilands Provincial Forest.  Most of the hiking is done on fine beach sand, but you are still surrounded by a pine forest.  There are many more trails, this is just one of them.

Lake Minnewasta South Trail
by darethehair on Apr 27, 2010
Morden, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 1.1 miles
After discovering that the Morden community trail continues along south along Lake Minnewasta, we decided to pack a light lunch and attempt an initial partial exploration.  What we found was incredible, and we determined for a longer adventure in the future -- especially when the green returns to the grass and trees in the summer.

Pinawa Dam tour
by headstump on Aug 27, 2010
Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 0.9 miles
The old Pinawa Dam is a great little walk around a historical site with much to see.  There is a series of signs that allow people to learn the history of why the dam is an important engineering feat.  The walk is light, but becomes more moderate when you reach the rocks.

Senkiw Bridge / Crow Wing Trail
by headstump on Sep 11, 2010
Roseau River, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 1.2 miles
This is a historic part of the Trans Canada Trail.  The suspension bridge currently in place replaced the original one from 1946 which was built to allow children to cross the river as they walked up to 2 miles to school (imagine getting a kid to do that these days in -35degC weather!).  Before that, the children had a wood basket they would climb into and they would get pulled across.  The...

Scott Creek Trail
by Cheeta on Aug 19, 2012
McCreary, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 2.0 miles
Walked with my brother on a sunny afternoon. The wooded portion is OK - some nice oaks and tall stands of birch and aspen. The creek itself was delightful. Cold and clear, wide-open with banks of sand and stones. Tiny fish and huge water striders.

Saint Andrews, Manitoba, Canada
Hiking | 4.0 miles
A walk through the bush in Birds Hill Park on a route that is more commonly used for cross-country skiing. Varying surfaces include paved bike trail, gravel double track, and wide mowed grass trail. Not particularly scenic.
