This was my first attempt at biathlon. It had been a long time dream to try it out, ever since being heavily into shooting as a kid.

A loop past, and over, the two bridges at Nipika. Excellent skiing on track-set trails in a scenic setting surrounded by mountains.

A short loop around the Little Bear Golf Course in Castlegar. Lots of soft snow, just mind the elk mess.

A quick out and back cross country ski or snowshoe along a logging road to an interesting cabin, could be a nice hike in summer too.

Boxing Day cross-country ski. Great weather and great friends. Stopped at the Huff and Puff hut for lunch and skied down the hill without falling once! We were the only ones on the trail in the morning but by afternoon lots of people were out burning off calories from their turkey dinners.

Cross-country skiing | 6.8 miles
This is a great intermediate/advanced trail at Black Jack.  There is plenty of elevation change and it is perfectly groomed for either skate or classic skiing.   You start at the Trail head and head out along Gibbards, which is rated a green trail, once you hit Torresans cabin keep right and follow mugwamp (which is rated a blue).  At the Mugwamp Spitzee junction- we took the Spitzee option, but as it is...

XC Silver Star
by jackw on Mar 14, 2012
Silver Star Mountain, British Columbia, Canada
Cross-country skiing | 7.4 miles
Rode a chairlift up to top of Silver Star and skiied down. First time I rode a chairlift on skinny skis and it wasn't easy to get to the lift even though it was only a green run. Silver Star has a very good network of trails interwined with downhill runs. I actually spotted my kids riding a t-tar up while skiing. Very beautiful place and there is no shortage of snow.

Kari and I x-country skiing up at Telemark.  Stayed on "Fern Creek" trail the whole time.  Nice trail but lacks the huge views that you get up on the high trails like Panorama or Crystal Rim.Note:  This trail gets you to the start of the Crystal Rim trail.
