I was a little anxious about
going out alone today but I decided that the weather was good and the
wind was ok to fly in (about 5mph). So to hell with it. I drove to mom
and dads to pick up the PPG and headed over to the airport.
When I got there it appeared
that the wind was coming from the south even though TAFS stated it was
coming from NNE. I set up the gear...

The weather was fine yet again and Andre couldn't make it out to Sodom Road so I headed over to Pelham airfield for a beautiful afternoon flight over the fields. A little cold up there so it was a good job I wore my jacket for this one.Mom was walking the dogs at the park just south east of my house and waved to me (she says) I didn't see her from...

Had a very nice flight - had hoped to thermal up to Mt. Cheam, but it was pretty chilly by the time I got to 5500' (Cheam is another 1400') - I forgot gloves. The thermals were decent, but not too turbulent.
First powered hang gliding flight.
Flew with Randy Rauck from Raven Aviation.
Beautiful day for it.

Flew solo between 3 and 4 PM. Very stable - did a lot of "scratching." Short video (4 -5 minutes) of the flight (camera mounted under glider) available at:http://youtu.be/sW15Y5i266sBill.
Decided to take advantage of the weather and head north to Fonthill and over my house. Jennifer my daughter told me that she had seen me and was waving from the back yard... didn't see her! Great trip and a chance to see the fall colours starting to turn.
The wind was nil and the temperature was about 11 degrees so I decided
that I would chance it and take a morning flight. As I expected the
winds aloft were a little higher and it was a little bumpy but not
uncomfortable. Clouds were heading in from the south and so I decided
that I would stick around the airport and just enjoy the flight. It was
a little cold up there so I must remind...

http://ppgniagara.blogspot.com/2009/11/ok-so-i-lied.htmlRight out of the blue a
beautiful warm Sunday in November hit us and it was just too good an
opportunity to pass up. I contacted Andre and he told me that he'd be
at the Sodom field for 1 pm. I got a there a little early with my kit
in tow and set up. The wind was blowing at between 0 and 5 mph variable
but mostly from the south which made taking off nice...
I decided that I should
probably try to use the rest of the gas up from the weekend and do a
short flight or two this morning while the wind was still low (5-7 mph
NW). I set up and took off with out a hitch and began my flight heading
to the north east. At first it seemed a little choppy but it soon
became smooth. I was up for 45 minutes and flew over most...
