The most famous hike in Watertons Lake NP. You have to reach the trailhead by ferry boat, so you are limited in your time cause there is only one one boat in the morning to get you over the see and another in the evening to get you back. In the high season there are two boats in the morning or in the evening to get all the hikers across to this...more

The GPS coordinates for this trail have already been uploaded by user 'cgarden', but thought I would add some extra photos and share some links.I'm only 30, and I havent hiked the world over, but, when this trail isnt that busy (early or late season), its definitely one of the best hiking experiences in British Columbia, if not the world.

L'aprs-midi alors...more

We went up to Barrier Lookout for Canada Day.  It was a beautiful morning with a clear blue sky.  We were first to the parking lot as we had hoped.  This was a familiar trail as we had done it twice before.  The last time was about 6 years ago so our memory was that it was a climb but not too difficult.  We have done Prairie Mountain and Cox Hill in...more

This is one of the best day hikes for views in Waterton Lakes National Park, as almost half of the trail's length is through sub-alpine or alpine terrain.  From Carthew Summit, the vista extends south to teal-blue lakes and snow-clad peaks in Glacier National Park, USA.  North of the summit, you descend into a dramatic landscape featuring the Carthew Lakes nestled in red and mauve colored rock.  The best way to do...more

We spend a fantastic week at the Durrand Glacier chalet where we ski real deep and steep powder. The days were exhausting but the descents worth every effort we made. The scenery was breathtaking and the staff very professional. Four stars for the meal.

This is a really good loop multi-day kayaking trip that we hadnt seen anywhere else. It took us a leisurely 3 days, but you could get it done in two if you started early enough and the weather worked out.Check out footloosiety.com for additional pictures and story!

Sunday night at Toquart Bay Photo
Day  1 - MondayThe trip to the launch at Toquart Bay took nearly all of Sunday.  Gerry picked me up at 7:30 and we arrived at the launch at 6:00 pm that night. The 4+ hour travel time from Victoria seemed to drag on and on, but finally we arrived.  We had decided to camp at the launch since it would be getting dark within an hour after our arrival.  The plan...more

Day 4 - ThursdayWe awoke to more rain, and now fog.  Around breakfast, and after a call home to verify ferry times, we came to the realization that if we left for Toquart Bay this morning we could make the 1900 Coho back to Victoria.  We all decided this was a much better prospect than breaking camp, and reassembling a bunch of wet gear at Toquart Bay.So, we set about breaking down...more
