Trips
The PradoPoint committee arrived at Neurum Creek on Friday night in preparation for a reccy drive. The goal was to drive from Neurum Creek to Charlie Moreland. We were tempted by side tracks which soon turned into an adventure on their own. These are now planned for the GTG.Still, we didn't make it to Charlie Moreland, so another reccy day will be needed. Bewdy!
we drove north from gold coast to noosa where we spent our first night.drove all morning on a dirt road (not the best itinerary) to rainbow beach, filled up the tank bought the ferry tickets.it took us 5/6 hours to go all the way to orchid beach where a friend join us for our first night on the beach. a few dingoes, a sea turtle, and stars watching made our night pretty...
A Daytrip of Solo Exploring through Bellthorpe SF in Qld..... Well worth more exploring on my days off
This tour is described in a brochure on 4WD trips in the crows nest area. Mostly fairly easy going, there were a couple of steep descents that required low range, and on the section between Murphy's Ck Rd and Withcott, there was one quite boggy bit and a fairly deep washout to manouvre around. Quite enjoyable, with some good views - a great place to start dirtying the Prado.
Little exploring up through Bellthorpe SF, then towards Jimna via Bellthorpe Gantry and Conondale SF, stopping at Peachtrees, then onto Nanango via the back way. From here onto Old Coach Rd and Old Yarraman RdGrade - Weather Depending - Medium
Did a quick midweek recce down through Sundown NP. Hadn't been there for quite a few years, but the place is looking a lot better after the rains at the beginning of the year. Great place for camping & relaxing... the only thing is to travel the 20kms from the entry to the campgrounds, it takes some 2hrs to travel..... Which is probably a good thing.
Glasshouse Mountains Track - PradoPoint GTG 2011
Woodford, Queensland, Australia
Offroading | 32 miles
Offroading | 32 miles
I led a group of 6 vehicles from Neurum Creek Bush Retreat through the Glasshouse Mountains. It had been around 12 months since my last visit and the tracks had changed considerably. There is one section that is completely impassable. You will see my attempt to drive North of the bog in an effort to find a track around it. It is a clockwise drive toward the top of the track. Unfortunately, just as...
Some step hills, sharp rock and river crossings was dry for me maybe mud after rain as well .
Starting point was at Woodford then headed up through Bellthorpe SF (2hr detour), then via the Conondale NP to Booloumba Ck, then back via Sunday Ck Rd and Middle Rd to Bellthorpe-Jimna Rd and to Jimna. From here onto the T/O at LCMP & headed east via Mt Buggery and finished at Borumba Campgrounds - From Home and back to Home again - 412kms & 7hrs, 58mins Driving Time
Re: 3 Vitara's BIG WEEKEND OUT(+500kms in total travelled over the weekend)Well.... It had been a LONG time between explore weekends, so, after a few emails / phonecalls, it was decided to meet on Sat at Kilcoy and head north and see where the road would take us. The Crew vehicles were 2 Vitara's and a Nissan (it was a daytrip only for one of the Vitara's though) We met at Kilcoy...
Went out for a recce yesterday, covering some 450kms and only did half of the area I wanted to..... Covered the bottom part of the trip I was thinking about.... I went up and over Mt Glorious to Wivenhoe Dam, then onto Lowood; Aktinsons Dam (nice place to camp and relax & fish, etc), then onto Lake Clarendon to my proposed starting point of Helidon. From here I went up Air Force...

Well, I decided to stage-2 of my proposed Helidon-Blackbutt Daytrip. This stage started at Esk and headed NW to the Lookout of Cressbrook Dam. From here it was backtrack a little bit and on to Maria Creek Road heading towards Blackbutt via the back roads. The dirt road condition was good considering where I was...I was surprised at the size (BIG) of some of the homesteads out here in the middle of...
Well, the day I kicked off early and we were on the rd b4 7am heading up and over Mt Glorious, then onto Lowood, Atkinson Dam, Clarendon Dam, finally reaching the start of Wallers Rd.... We were greeted by Warning sign that the road is not maintain which only added to the curiosity..... 1st part of the track was steep rocky section until u get to the 1st stage where it flattens...
LROC Brisbane and Sunshine coast Glass House Mountains
Beerburrum, Queensland, Australia
Offroading | 28 miles
Offroading | 28 miles
Combined trip with Sunshine Coast LROC. Sorry bad with names, but great turnout. Ranging from fairly standard D2(?) to lifted and locked Defenders on mud tyres. Great trip, so close to Brisbane, fair few drivers and motorbikes out, even after all the rain.
Thanks Anthony for your advice on lines.
Did a daytrip with the fellas from Pradopoint up through Bellthorpe SF. 10 cars in all in wet/muddy conditions... Great to finally be able to get back out exploring again after all the wet weather....
Did this trip back in 2010 and loved the exploring and scenery that was to be seen. The old Mt Clara Chimney was cool to see as well. Plenty more exploring to do up there......
