An excellent beginner course at Grimmialp for the weekend. Saturday we went up the eastern valley, but the visibility was quite poor so the sense of accomplishment was quite limited. On day one we hiked in on the Mountaineer's Route of Whitney and camped at Iceberg Lake, climbed East Buttress (aka Pee Wee Route) on Mount Whitney the next day, Fishhook Arete on Mount Russell the day after, and finally hiked out on day four.
This was a week on the Tempest, part of the Tornado Fleet in the Red Sea. Due to bad weather, the trip was amended from the "normal" route, but we had almost no other boats at almost every dive site, including (unusually) the Thistlegorm.
