Fire Road Trails at Topanga State Park
Topanga is both extremely accessible and rugged. It is a natural park lying within Los Angeles and is within easy day-use reach of over 12 million regional residents. This hike: Many of the park's trails can be accessed from Trippet Ranch. Two miles from Trippet is Eagle Junction with access to the Eagle Spring loop trail. Eagle Rock is one of...

Fantastic views almost the whole way. A lot of fun and well worth it.
Last minute trip, surprised by how close the Santa Ynez Canyon was off of PCH. Saw some deer very close by and lots of birds, squirrels, etc. Bonus: parking was close by the trailhead and FREE (on either side of Vereda de la Montura before the private gated community). Also, no dogs allowed, no restrooms.
Nice climb up from Topanga. Eagle Rock had great views at sunset. We watched the clouds forming and pushing through from the west. We got out in the dark, just before a rainstorm. Froggies was delicious -- especially with good friends.
Great day for a hike. Not many out there on this day. At 8:00 we were the third car in the lot.For getting there early the deer came out to say hello. They let you take pictures of them until they are tired of it and then they walk away. A little hazy but over all very nice.
Josh came out to visit LA and we decided to find the magical waterfall. We found a LOT of graffiti. And, not the good kind of graffiti (like art), the bad kind of graffiti (like my gang it going to kill your gang members).
This hike started out being planned the night before, just as many others have. This was supposed to be non hiking weekend, but when plans fall through, you change your schedule up. I wasn't able to make the hike this weekend, but a couple of the Xtreme Hiker divas had something planned. They decided to head up to the Topanga Canyon area and explore some trail up there. St. Ynes Falls looked...
A quick, pleasant hike to Eagle Rock and Temescal Peak in Topanga State Park. Eagle Rock is truly a sight to behold. Ascending to Eagle Rock in the first three miles of the hike provides for the best all-around views. Then continue east to Temescal before returning below Eagle Rock. Musch Trail provides a nice change of scenery from the broad paths leading to Eagle Rock, but be careful to watch out...

Late afternoon hike. Nice trail. Lots of variety and interesting features incl caves. First mile meanders thru shady forest and follows a stream, second mile is steeper, ascending the hillside to the ridgeline where there is a junction with the ridgeline trail. The second mile has no shade. I opted to turn back at the junction. Great views in all directions from there. Trippet Ranch looked to be about another quarter mile...
Chang, Kim, and I did 6.5 miles from the lower dead horse parking area.Excitement: Saw a rattle snake.
