We tried backpacking with Llamas to carry our equipment for this overnight excursion to one of the beautiful high altitude lakes in the Colorado State Forest.  The elevation climb is about 2,000 feet, with a hike of 7.5 miles one way.  The trail is clearly marked, and easy to follow.  My 9 year old niece went along for the hike, so the climb is not too difficult.  The Llamas were great to...

I don't know the names of many wildflowers, and maybe some were misidentified, but I do enjoy their diversity and beauty.  Mt partner and I did a short hike along the Cache la Poudre River to catch the beauty, before the season gets to old.  Along the way, I shared with my partner the "Pig of the Poudre", a pegmatite rock formation along the highway that most Poudre Canyon locals as well...

Clark Peak at 12,951 feet is tallest peak in the Medicine Bow range (this range extends north from Cameron Pass into southern Wyoming).  There is no official trail to the top of this peak, but it can be easily accessed from several trailheads (Sawmill Creek, Blue Lake, Ruby Jewel, or Montgomery Pass).  We made a loop from Sawmill Creek (there is no trailhead sign here in the winter, but park at Blue...

We have wanted to more hiking in the Rawah Wilderness and finally did the West Branch Trail.  The aspens were just beginning to change, so we had a beautiful hike.  This was our first hike since returning from the Colorado Trail!

This is a beautiful hike off of Highway 14 just east of Cameron Pass into the Rawah Wilderness.  TJ and I were joined by his sister, her dog, and two other dogs we were dog sitting, so we were quite the large group!
