Hiking | 7.4 miles
We tried backpacking with Llamas to carry our equipment for this overnight excursion to one of the beautiful high altitude lakes in the Colorado State Forest.  The elevation climb is about 2,000 feet, with a hike of 7.5 miles one way.  The trail is clearly marked, and easy to follow.  My 9 year old niece went along for the hike, so the climb is not too difficult.  The Llamas were great to...

Big South Trail Cache la Poudre River, Comanche Peak Wilderness

Hiking | 4.2 miles
I don't know the names of many wildflowers, and maybe some were misidentified, but I do enjoy their diversity and beauty.  Mt partner and I did a short hike along the Cache la Poudre River to catch the beauty, before the season gets to old.  Along the way, I shared with my partner the "Pig of the Poudre", a pegmatite rock formation along the highway that most Poudre Canyon locals as well...

Middle Mtn (9,344'), Ranked Peak, Laramie River Valley
by jimlarkey on Aug 10, 2014
Bellevue, Colorado, United States
Hiking | 6.8 miles
Middle Mountain is another Soft, gentle, easy “mountain” in the Laramie River Valley, that is actually a 4-mile-long ridge, rising 1,000' above the valley floor. But it has the distinction of being a ranked-peak....+300' of prominence. It is kind of like an island, situated between the Laramie River and Nunn Creek. No doubt, Nunn Creek is/was part of the flood plain of the Laramie. We started at Rawah TH, which has plenty of parking, and even a...

Clark Peak (12,951')
by erhart67 on Aug 04, 2012
Hiking | 13.8 miles
Clark Peak at 12,951 feet is tallest peak in the Medicine Bow range (this range extends north from Cameron Pass into southern Wyoming).  There is no official trail to the top of this peak, but it can be easily accessed from several trailheads (Sawmill Creek, Blue Lake, Ruby Jewel, or Montgomery Pass).  We made a loop from Sawmill Creek (there is no trailhead sign here in the winter, but park at Blue...

We have wanted to more hiking in the Rawah Wilderness and finally did the West Branch Trail.  The aspens were just beginning to change, so we had a beautiful hike.  This was our first hike since returning from the Colorado Trail!

Hiking | 12.7 miles
We began at the Blue Lake TH, hiked to Blue Lake Pass, and then followed a vague trail to the summit of Cameron Peak.  From here, we had views to Medicine Bow Peak in the far north, the Bald Mountains to the east, Crown Point and Comanche Peak to the SE, the summit block of Long's Pk to the far south, Lulu Mt. and the Nokhu Crags to the near south, and...

This is a beautiful hike off of Highway 14 just east of Cameron Pass into the Rawah Wilderness.  TJ and I were joined by his sister, her dog, and two other dogs we were dog sitting, so we were quite the large group!
