This is a challenging 13.3 mile hike, with 2,600 foot elevation gain/drop.

This guide is rated difficult simply because of its elevation variation and total distance. I call it the Diego Challenge. A strenuous hike that takes you up to the peak of Mount Spokane via the steepest ski run, "No Alibi" - great views.

by thegirl30 on May 20, 2012
North Indian Trail, Washington, United States
Hiking | 7.1 miles (9.2 miles away)
This was a nice hike today. The mosquitos were thick but we were prepared. We did the entire loop with kids that range in age from 3 to 11. We saw a couple of large snakes and a few deer.  The hours here are 6:30 A.M. to dusk and you must have a discovery pass to park. The Valley Trail is a 7.1 mile loop. There are three different trail heads to choose from, to start the...

Liberty Lake Loop
by bassale28 on Aug 18, 2013
Hiking | 8.1 miles (17.1 miles away)
In the clockwise direction this trail climbs relatively slowly for the first three miles. Once you reach the falls, the climb via switchbacks is fairly steep for the last few hundred feet of ascent. Once you reach the ridge, it is relatively flat with a fast downgrade back to the trail start. If you prefer a faster climb and have good knees, you might prefer this loop counterclockwise. The 1200 foot climb is...

Spokane River - Bowl and Pitcher - Poliganders Family Hikes
by thegirl30 on Jul 07, 2012
Highland, Washington, United States
Hiking | 7.5 miles (4.1 miles away)
Bowl and Pitcher offers quite a few different trails, including a loop. Today we opted for an out and back hike along the river.  (We followed the trail markers for 25) The trail was well marked, wide and easy for the kids. We didn't make it to any end; we just turned around mid hike, knowing that we had walked about 3 miles in. We were short a few kids, so it...

Dishman Hills Pinecliff DiscoveryTrail
by SpokaneHiker on Sep 19, 2012
Dishman, Washington, United States
Hiking | 2.0 miles (6.4 miles away)
Dishman Hills is a unique natural area surrounded on three sides by communities.  There is a lawn, picnic tables and play structures near the entrance but after that it is rugged rocky terrain with several ravines running south to north following faults in the earth.  These ravines often provide a moist habitat and support plant species that do not grow in the dryer higher cliffs. Rock walls tempt climbers but because this...

Hiking | 1.6 miles (6.4 miles away)
My daughter Wendy and I decided to go for a little hike and get some fresh air.  The hike was fun if slow.  We had a great time mapping the location of some of the benches and other features.  We had lunch at the bench at the top of the ridge. It had a great view of the valley and we could see all the way to Liberty Lake.
