8.5 mi. (4.2 mi. to summit). 8 hrs. Hiked to squaw peak from rock canyon park. Then hiked around trying to find a
way to get up to squaw peak parking lot (pretty far away- another mountain, pretty much). Wasn't able
to do it so went straight down once it started to get dark. Search and
rescue (the sheriff) was little help even after I sent him my gps
coordinates. Just slowed us down.

We started the hike at 5:45, it was the first time for my nephew and nieces.Vianey was so excited about getting to the top and Nayely did a good effort to keep up with her sister, Roberto was a little upset about the hard hike but he made it.It was hard for them since was the first hike ever, but they did a good job and enjoyed the little adventure.

I wanted to hike to the top of this mountain last year in October I think, then in January 1rst this year tried again.Finally got to the top this time its an easy and short hike the view is awesome also. Did it by myself this time and wasn't any people there.
I decided to take a lunch time walk from Centennial Middle School to Rock Canyon. I'll hike then entire canyon one of these days. It's been a few years since I've hiked the entire route, but I don't have time today and wanted to try out the EveryTrail tracker.

A nice little hike up Rock Canyon. We turned around at the first bathroom in the picnic area. The snow was too deep at that point for our tennis shoes. Saw many people with snow shoes along the way. Only a snowmobile appeared to have gone as far as the picnic area.
We experienced rain, hail, and snow on the way up. The clouds obscured the view pic the valley. The weather was clear for the descent, but the muddy trail was slippery. All in all it was a fun hike

Some of the most amazing colors I've ever seen. We didn't find an official trailhead parking lot, so we parked in one of the empty group sites.
