"The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!” - John Muir

Naturalist John Muir wrote of San Jacinto Peak, “The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!” Who am I to argue with Muir? At 10,834′ Mt. San Jacinto does indeed reward the determined hiker with wonderful views. You can see the inland empire, Palm Desert, the San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains,...

San Jacinto - Marion Trail

Hiking | 11.8 miles
Despite all the reports that this is a difficult trail it was very straightforward, taking 3h15m up and 2h20m down. It is not that scenic as you're mostly in trees, and there are no difficult areas (would grade class 1) with 100ft of boulder hopping at top (class 2). Nonetheless the peak offers some of the best views around.

One of the best adventures while visiting Palm Springs is to take the tram ride to the top of the ridge above at 8,616 feet.  The goal?  A wonderful day hiking in some of the most beautiful wilderness in Southern California.  The tram ride up and down is a novelty in itself, but once at the top - stepping out of the upper tram building into the glorious fresh air, scented pines...

Proposed to Erica atop Mt San Jacinto peak.  I manually uploaded the proposal photo and ring photo taken at the summit.  For some reason Everytrail will not let me place them in the correct location in the picture slide show and keeps showing them at the beginning of the slide show.

My buddy and I went out for a quick weekend hike into the San Jacinto mountains via the Devil's Slide Trail.  Summiting the San Jacinto peak is hard enough, but with 3 feet of snow and no snow shoes, it became impassable in the time we had.  About the area:Located in the Mt San Jacinto State Park in Southern California, San Jacinto is the second highest peak in Southern California at 10,834...

Our goal was to hike to the top of San Jacinto (10,824ft) under the full moon light and arrive at the peak at midnight to meet other geocachers.  We had an illness in our group and turned around at 9200 ft. The hike from Humber Park in Idyllwild to the peak is 8 miles and 4,000 ft of elevation gain.

Mt. San Jacinto via Devils Slide Trail
by CCF_Hiker on Jan 01, 1990
Hiking | 15.5 miles
The Devils Slide Trail is a moderately difficult climb to the summit of San Jacinto. The trail itself is well maintained and well traveled. It is an excellent training hike for Mt. Whitney and provides valuable elevation experience. In the dead of summer, this hike can provide wide temperature fluctuations. San Jacinto is known for having temperatures that can be 40 degrees cooler from summit to base. The winds at the top were pretty...
