Trips
First I hiked the 3.8 mile Summit Loop Trail. The park requires $5.00 for car parking. After arriving back to the parkiung lot, I decided to continue with the 2.5 mile Saddle trail which is less strenous with little elevation change. Besides Golden Gate Park, this is the closest winderness trail to San Francisco. It is possible to arrive here within a 15 minute drive from downtown.
"Trailhead Parking" - Eucalyptus - Dairy Ravine - Ridge - Radio Road - Summit Loop - back to start. Nice afternoon hike with flowers, views and butterflies. I saw so many butterflies and more than a few gartersnakes but they were all too quick for photos...
After entering the Park off Guadalupe Canyon Parkway, we circled around and crossed just on the other side of the Parkway. Past the trail sign we turned right, went 100 yards and turned right on Summit Loop Trail. We looped around and climbed until reach the radio towers. We turned right for a short sidetrack on pavement. The views of the Ocean and Bay were spectacular. We returned to the trail and turned right...
