Trips
Named for the Godfathers of KC hiking, this trail feels longer than it is. You'll see lots of different terrain and enjoy some splendid vistas. There's some climbing involved, so if you're out of shape, you might want to work up to this one. It'll make a great reward. (Sorry about the dog pix, I haven't figured out how to edit them out.)
Fun and relaxing. We took our 14 month old in a carrier and had a blast exploring. Would be great for biking.
Hiked some of the trails at Kill Creek Park with the Kansas City Adventure Club.

The Rimrock Trail at Camp Naish, west of Kansas City, is a pleasant hiking trail that circles the Boy Scout Camp. The camp is up on a hill and overlooks the surrounding area. The Rimrock Trail is mostly flat, ranging from 500 - 600 feet in elevation. There are beautiful views of surrounding valleys and the Kaw River to the south. Overall, the trail is 11,0 miles long. I hiked 5.5 miles...

Yep, not much parking to speak of, but a nice trail for a short trip. Very challenging elevation wise, and you end up at the bluff overlooking Blue River Parkway and 87th Street. It was cloudy, and breezy this morning. Warm for December!! If you are mountain biking, there were some fallen trees blocking the trail.

There are two places to park, neither one offers very much parking so be courteous. Great elevation changes without leaving the city. Fairly quiet and secluded. Trail is marked with orange markers, however if you do decide to venture off the trail, make sure to watch for barbed wire fences. Great overlooks and vistas. Plenty of wildlife.
