Great Trail for a short day hike with excellent scenery...in late summer the huckleberries are thick.
This is a trail that off shoots from the common shared Blue Lake Trail. The trail head parking lot has a quality outhouse facility. As with many upper elevation trails, late summer is a premium season for the hike due to the beautiful colors. Excellent view of Mt Baker in a few spots. The trail is very nice, not dangerous, but you will need to be...
Via Coleman Glacier with optional ski descent
This is a beautiful climb up one of the most glaciated peaks in the lower 48. In the summer you will see beautiful wildflowers. You will camp high up on the Coleman Glacier and make a summit bid early the next morning before the sun comes up. We found the best place to camp was high on the Coleman Glacier underneath a rocky ridge to climbers right....
Trips
This hike is easy to moderate. Along the trail there are rest benches and many viewpoints to enjoy . to the south you can see Pyramid Peak. At the end of the trail a gorgeous view of Diablo Lake. I went with 4 others, Tonia, Bill, Kathy & Ruby.

After about a mile the trail traverses the hill side for a bit before climbing through brush toward the meadow. While at this point the trail could stand...
Trail in North Cascades NP
This trip was 20.8 miles round trip, next time drive the first 5 miles to the trailhead!
This is one of the best hikes in the North Cascade area. It has great views to Mt. Baker and its glaciers.
Second tentative for this hike since in early July the trail was completely covered by snow. The rain and the fog gave a mysterious atmosphere to this 12 km hike, with interesting snowy landscapes.

Rick and I left from Fairhaven near Bellingham at 8:30 AM all bundled up warm and headed down Chuckanut Drive taking the back roads to Baker Lake. We went exploring and ended up at the trailhead parking lot for Blue Lake trail. The sign described a 1.5 mile hike so we decided to head up the trail. Along the way we ended up shedding all our riding gear, hiding it, and continuing...
