Snohomish County Park, Granite Falls, Washington
Start out at Lime Kiln Trail head, south east of Granite Falls, Washington. Trail goes briefly through the forest to a mostly level road, before gently declining through the forest to follow the South Fork of the Stillaguamish river. At one point you pass by Hubbard Lake and cross a bridge over Hubbard Creek. Continue on the trail with peek-a boo...

This is by far one of my favorite Mt. Loop Highway hikes. It's a 2-4 hour trek, depending on how fast you hike. This popular trail is well-maintained and offers beautiful forest views on the switchbacks on the way up and a perfect payoff with the walk around a picturesque lake. The lake offers many lunching opportunities and also hosts 5-6 back-country camp sites. On a hot day, go swimming if...
Another anual trip up to Mt.Pichuck with the girls. We put a twist into this year and decided to see the sunrise. Started out at the trail head at 3:30 am and make it to the lookout in a little under 2hr. The sunrise was something to behold! What a beautiful site. The colors and shadows that is cast on to the surounding landscape is amazing. Watching the Cascade Mountain range lit up with the early morning...
The Venture group went on Hike to Lake Twenty-Two. Rob was the leader,George, Tonia, Terri, Karen, Sonia, Bonita, and Ola went along. We started the hike at 10:30am. Arrived at the Lake by 12:30pm and were back at the trail head by 3:30pm. Along the way we stopped for photo opportunities in front of the falls. the last two thirds leading to the lake we discovered there was still snow on the...
Went with Bill and Tonia. The trail starts out level and then gradually ascends after about a third of a mile from the trail head . Once you reach the top it is a short journey to the to Beaver plant lake is short and along Boardwalks. the Beaver Plant lake has 3 campsites and there is a bench out on the small pier that look s out onto the lake. We then went back...
An attempt to summit Eaglet in the winter.
Climbed to the top of Mt. Pilchuck with my grandson. The first mile of trail was clear but the last two were covered with snow. The snow made for a difficult climb - four steps forward one step back. It was just plain hard to hike in the stuff. The forest service sign says the hike/climb is 3 miles but my GPS said 2.2.
Lorey, Roscoe, and I head out to the historic Lime Kiln Trail in western Washington state. "The Lime Kiln Trail is a lovely winter hike at low elevation, with lots
of moss, fungus and railroad artifacts. The trail is carved out of the
Everett & Monte Cristo railroad grade and features gurgling creeks,
an historic lime kiln, twisted iron railroad railings, and a walk down
to the banks of the thunderous Stillaguamish."http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes-of-the-week/lime-kiln-trail
What a great hike! Full of challenges and constant payoffs via the amazing view which starts about halfway into the hike. You wouldn't be disappointed if you didn't finish the hike. . . unless you knew about how incredible the Fire Outlook is. The elevation gain is tough but the trail also offers flat, breath-catching opportunities throughout the cardio challenge.
The scramble to the lookout is the most difficult part but well worth the history lesson inside...
Having never hiked, Mt. Pilchuck Trail, before, my friend and I decided that it was time to do it.Overall, is was a fantastic day hike, though very strenuous for a couple of "old" geezers who like to get out and enjoy the scenery. I had read about bugs from an earlier post, and so we were prepared, though there really didn't seem to be a lot of activity. Maybe because it was...
Nice trail. A lot of snow near lake, but not impossible and hard to get lost with number of people who have used it.

The statistics from the GPS for the altitude don't seem correct.

This is a trip I took last year but never uploaded. The hike to Boardman Lake is 0.8 miles. Continuing on to Island Lake adds another 1.4 miles. The trail to Boardman Lake is a regular well maintained forest service trail. The "trail" from there to Island Lake is a rugged Boot-Built trail and is very difficult to follow in places. Even though I have been there many times, I could not locate...
Today was my first mountain hike of the year. I chose an easy hike to Lake Boardman. When I got to the lake, I decided to hike to the far end. There is no official trail; however, in recent years, I have managed to find my way around the lake.Today, I spotted the beginning of the old boot built trail that I used to follow but had since lost. I was quite...
