Dorothy Cleveland Trail w-pics
by MAMonma on Sep 30, 2010
Hiking | 0.7 miles (13.4 miles away)
Trail created to commemorate Port of South Whidbey commissioner Dorothy Cleveland. Starts at sea level and ascends to over 400 feet, a "lolly-pop" route. Passes through many ecosystems: from the water estuary at the beach, through native grass, dense sword ferns, swampy horse tails, giant maples, cedar grove, encroaching nettles, brilliant green of alders, to sparse undergrowth Douglas Fir forest. Trail has features of bridges, stairs, and benches. Glimpses of the Mukilteo-Clinton...

Lorey, Roscoe, and I head out to the historic Lime Kiln Trail in western Washington state. "The Lime Kiln Trail is a lovely winter hike at low elevation, with lots of moss, fungus and railroad artifacts.  The trail is carved out of the Everett & Monte Cristo railroad grade and features gurgling creeks, an historic lime kiln, twisted iron railroad railings, and a walk down to the banks of the thunderous Stillaguamish."http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes-of-the-week/lime-kiln-trail

Everett, Washington, United States
Hiking | 1.9 miles (5.5 miles away)
This is an easy short hike past the container ship load/unload facility on the Everett waterfront.  It ends at the south end of the port at a small beach with a couple of picnic tables.  There is a porta-potty along the way.  No water.

Hiking | 7.4 miles (11.4 miles away)
This trail was a low incline, easy hike. Along the way are old railway artifacts and an abandoned lime kiln at the trails end the trail loops around a nob hill and there is a small extension to where the old bridge used to be. The cement stanchions are still there.

Lime Smelter Hike
by JimJones on Jul 05, 2013
Granite Falls, Washington, United States
Hiking | 5.1 miles (11.4 miles away)
A short hike up an old railroad grade while visiting my daughter, beautiful scenery and small marsh land. Had to take the pictures of the Vole was the first one I had ever seen sorry about the pics but only had small camera with me. Lime smelter was a bit disappointing as most of the abandoned smelters we find here in Idaho are enormous but this one was about 15'x15'x25' tall built...

Hike with the crew on the Lime Kiln trail. Was the longest hike for S. so far, and she did great! Lots of artifacts at the actual kiln site, which was fun for the kids to look at. J. found a geocache along they way even though we weren't looking for one - he's got good geo-sense!

Lime Kiln Trail

Hiking | 7.7 miles (11.4 miles away)
Beautiful day for a hike. The trail is mostly shaded, so it's great for a hot day. The trail is mainly very well maintained with only a few sketchy, yet manageable areas. There are two great payoffs on this trail: 1) the lime kiln and 2) the river shore loop where you have river front access to the Stillaguamish. The trail is bit of.an upward climb at first, but then evens out....

1.6 miles round trip from 92nd Street Park to Mukilteo library. The trail is extremely muddy in parts. The tracks shown on the map were collected over several days so there is not a lot of continuity.Download all my GPS tracks at http://goo.gl/4LbHM
