The Theodore Roosevelt Area of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve is one of the finest hiking areas in Jacksonville. Boasting 600 acres of hardwood forest, wetlands, and scrub vegetation visitors will find four different trails to follow.

  This Preserve has some very nice trails through mostly pine forest. The north side backs a beautiful swamp and has access from the dirt road bordering it on the east side by the old sawmill. During dry weather hiking through the swamp is a treat.  There are many more trails in here than we did today. You can spend an entire day hiking through these woods.

 The Cedar Point area is a hidden gem and the locals like it that way. Signage designating the park and boat ramp seem to disappear making it easy to drive to the end of Cedar Point Road and think nothing of turning around and going back.
