One of the most scenic hikes in the KC metro. It looks like elf habitat. There's a pretty good climb on this one, so you ought to be in fairly good shape to take this one on. Be quiet in the woods and you might see the owl.

Lovely hike. Highly recommended.
Named for the Godfathers of KC hiking, this trail feels longer than it is. You'll see lots of different terrain and enjoy some splendid vistas. There's some climbing involved, so if you're out of shape, you might want to work up to this one. It'll make a great reward. (Sorry about the dog pix, I haven't figured out how to edit them out.)

HORRIBLE. Avoid at any cost. The trail is a soggy mess. Horses have rendered a rotten trail largely unusable to foot traffic, so you have to walk next to the trail much of the time, which means you pick up dozens of ticks. Oh, and there's a stream to cross but no bridge.

Nice hike, but poorly blazed. Starts in woods on gravel (yuck), then turns into dirt trail alongside creek, crosses creek and climbs into bluffs with woods, glades and meadow. The map shows that you're supposed to exit through the meadow, but you'll miss the prettiest part if you do.
