Hiking | 1.3 miles
As long as I've lived nearby, I had never been to the top of Springer Mountain.  It's a short hike, after a 10 mile Forest Service road, but was a nice trail, it was fun hiking the first segment of the AT.The little stub off the trail heads over to a camping area with many tent sites, and one small shelter.

Hiking | 6.4 miles
We met a friend at Lake Winfield Scott and rode in one car to the Woody Gap starting point, then at the end, used the other car to get us back to all our own vehicles. This shuttle allowed us to cover a longer section than we had time for otherwise. This is great for day-hikers with only a little experience. This track gives you 5.9 miles of the Appalachian trail, followed by...

Great loop trail in McIntosh Reserve!  Starts and ends at the Chattahoochee River.  This trail runs along the river and then cuts back into the flood plains.  Then it winds back and forth around the property boundry to bring you back to the river.  Posted some pics to let you see what it looks like!  Have fun!

Hiking | 2.1 miles
Fort Pulaski is a very interesting fort which I have visited a few times - today's agenda was to arrive at low tide, hike around the north side of the fort and head out to the Cockspur Island Lighthouse which lies just off the eastern tip of the island.  Note that there is an admission fee charged by the National Park Service to get on the island.  The hike was wonderful with...

Hiking | 2.5 miles
After having riden my bike past Lake Winfield Scott many times, I decided to try hiking in the area.  There are two access trails for the Appalachian Trail that depart from the lake.  My initial plan was to hike up one, across the AT, and back down the other.  I ran out of time that day and only had time to go up/dn Jarrard Gap.  It's a nice trail, and I look...
