This was a very pretty hike, 3 miles north of Arnold, CA. We decided to try this after viewing chris' trip.
The giant sequoias were amazing. There were scenic streams and foot
bridges. The trail was a little dusty, but very well groomed. Should be
great for hikers of all ages (and we saw them). We arrived with a flat
tire and chose to do our hike first and then change tire after....
The day before, the whole troupe broke into two for a pair of coordinated hikes around South Grove and Beaver Creek at Big Trees State Park. This day, Dad took the two oldest boys on a fast-pace hike straight up to the largest tree in the park, the Agassiz Tree.
The South Grove at Big Trees State Park is gorgeous, but dogs are NOT allowed on the trails. So parallel to this hike Dad and the two Shiba's hiked up fire roads to get to a natural meeting point where the trail crosses the fire road.

This is our first hike on the Arnold Rim Trail. We completed the ADA section and all the way to the 8 marker. From there we took the equestrian trail back to our starting point.

Another summer camping trip to Calaveras Big Trees. We had not done the Lava Beds trail in many years, so the older son and I went about it. No dogs allowed on this trail, so the trusty hiking companions had to stay at camp.

Beginning of the Arnold Rim Trail, across the dirt road 7n57 from the Logging Museum parking lot. Trail is paved initially and turns to dirt .8 mikes from the trail head. There is a paved right turn where the pavement ends that leads to a designed overlook above San Antonio Creek.
