One of Seattle’s most beloved parks. This hike loops around Green Lake.
Geologists say the Vashon Glacial Ice Sheet, which also formed Puget Sound and other area lakes, formed Green Lake 50,000 years ago. Dredgings of Green Lake have produced volcanic ash from an eruption of Glacier Peak that occurred about 6,700 years ago. The lake was included in the Olmsted Brothers’ comprehensive parks plan, and was given to the...

Trail created to commemorate Port of South Whidbey commissioner Dorothy Cleveland. Starts at sea level and ascends to over 400 feet, a "lolly-pop" route. Passes through many ecosystems: from the water estuary at the beach, through native grass, dense sword ferns, swampy horse tails, giant maples, cedar grove, encroaching nettles, brilliant green of alders, to sparse undergrowth Douglas Fir forest. Trail has features of bridges, stairs, and benches. Glimpses of the Mukilteo-Clinton...
We were supposed to do our first hike of the season but we were short on time so we went to Meadowdale Beach Park. It did involve taking off our socks and shoes to wade through the tunnel.

This is 2-1/2 miles round trip with 500 ft. of elevation gain. The trail is in good shape. Check out all the "unofficial" trails I have explored in the gulch. GPS tracks are available at http://goo.gl/4LbHM
Instead of a buggy high-mountain strenuous climb this weekend we opted for a cool, foggy morning easy hike down the Meadowdale ravine to the beach park. The GPS tracking didn't start on the way out until half-way back up the trail (I started it, honest!) so I trimmed the track points to one-way only. Enjoy the photo's. Elevation points might be slightly inaccurate due to steep ravine both sides and GPS error....

This hike is a relatively short, easy hike in a beautiful park west of Lynnwood. The trail is wide and readily accessible, but parts are steep and stair-stepped, and not recommended for strollers. Once on the beach, there is a wonderful view of the south end of Whidbey Island to the north. The day was overcast, with light showers at times, but still a wonderful "walk in the park!"
A late Sunday afternoon walk to identify trees
Did this after hitting the Original Pancake House for breakfast - we scored a free Dutch Baby some how there - yum! S. was fascinated by the fish hatchery at the beginning of the hike - she told M. later all about the baby fish and how they are protected. Kids enjoyed the teeter totter at the playground and the big salmon slide. The "Bubble Man" was also there, which gave the...
1.6 miles round trip from 92nd Street Park to Mukilteo library. The trail is extremely muddy in parts. The tracks shown on the map were collected over several days so there is not a lot of continuity.Download all my GPS tracks at http://goo.gl/4LbHM
Easy walk right from the library parking lot. We'll have to try the other direction on another day.
A gorgeous Spring Day in Seattle.Starring Michael, Micki, Andrew, and Cassie
J., A. and S. took a trip down to the water at St. Edwards park. We found a geocache while were were down there and some a flock of goldeneyes by the waters's edge. Not a lot of complaining on the way back up because I told a story.
