Ended a beautiful day with a trip along Longbark trail in Oakwoods. Despite the cold, I love walking the trails in the winter and listening to the crunch of the snow beneath my boots.Saw lots of geese on the river but didn't see any other wildlife on the walk.

Just got my new hiking boots (Merrell Phaser Peaks) from REI, so I thought I'd take them for a quick walk through Bald Mountain State Park in Michigan. It's very close to my house. What's Up Well, you see, a bunch of people walk for about
7 miles only to end up exactly where they started. It truly is an
exercise in futility. But it should be a pretty place and the company
will kick ass. Why? Because I have never been to Proud Lake and I need to keep up my backpacking shape (yes, I will be carrying- a backpack that is)
