Instead of doing the Pinnacle Trail - which is done by most - I chose to take the Crowder's Trail to the Rocktop Trail, which follows a ridgeline across Crowder's Mountain. There is rock scrambling involved. The Rocktop trail goes to the summit of Tower Hill and then to the Crowder's Mountain Overlook. I then went down the back on the Backside Trail, which rejoined the Crowder's Trail which I followed back...

Troop 108, Fort Mill - Second Class 5-mile Hike

This trip was to help those scouts that needed the 5-mile hike to make Second Class rank. Six scouts and four adults were in attendance.We departed Leroy Springs Complex at around 9:30 after a pep talk from the scoutmaster (who did not accompany us on the trip) and took the Complex Tunnel trail around the elementary and middle schools. Today we knocked off two (well 1.5 technically) more of the 100 Classic Hikes in NC. Our first stop was in Charlotte at Reedy Creek Park & Nature Preserve, one half of hike number 29. It rained most of the way down, but was just drizzling for our hike. We parked at the Nature Center and hiked along the Umbrella Tree Trail. We missed the turn off and completed the loop...

Took the dog for a walk at Latta Plantation. Went about 1.8 miles along Mountain Island Lake, and through a prairie restoration project. Dog really liked the walk. Easy trail, no real hills or anything.

Took the dog on a nice walk through Latta Plantation. We parked at the North Canoe Access and started walking on the Prairie trail. Crossing a few streams we hit the prairie and did a big loop around it. Even though The park lacks the elevation challenges, it has many of the features of mountain trails. I thoroughly enjoyed the hike and there are enough other trails that I'll be back time and again. It's hard to believe that such trails exist almost in my back yard.

I took every trail they had. I think it is about 6.8 miles. I really enjoyed these trails. Cedar Ridge Trail was the hardest but fun with a nice view, I was on that one when I took the photo of me against the tree taking a break.
