Hiking in Big Sur, California

Big Sur is conveniently located off of beautiful highway 1, perhaps one of the most beautiful drives in the country or the world. The Big Sur reason is roughly designed and contains a number of state parks as well as some sandy beaches. One of the more popular destinations is Sykes Hot Springs which sits about 9 miles along the Pine Ridge Trail. This natural hot spring attracts visitors from all over who camp nearby and enjoy the warm water. There are a number of shorter trails to waterfalls as well as peaceful walks through the woods.

Hiking | 2.0 miles
This short hike combined two of the more popular trails in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park: Pfieffer Falls and Valley View.  Unfortunately, due to fire damage from 2008, part of the Pfeiffer Falls loop was closed for rehabilitation and reconstruction, but luckily the waterfall was still reachable. When I got to Peiffer Fall the water was barely trickling down, and my guess is that late spring may be a better time for this...

Arroyo Seco River
by HikeNBike on Apr 02, 2010
Millers Ranch, California, United States
Hiking | 6.3 miles
Arroyo Seco is just west of Soledad, Ca.  It is a beautiful gorge with a nice river. Pretty much just the fire road for day hiking.  Other trails go back many miles. But the fire road is beautiful and pretty level the first 3 miles. Ideal for bicyling, but I am not sure if bikes are allowed. I took the Santa Lucia trail back which is parallel and higher on the ridge. ...

Hiking | 9.7 miles
It is a trip that in summer month will challenge your sanity for hiking 10 miles to hot springs when during the hike all you can think of is a cold bath.It is a medium to strenuous hike with views to kill for. There are a lot of signs of 2008 fire but also amazing examples of rebirth. We made frequent stops to soak our feet in cold creeks and enjoy the...
