A long 16.5 mile day-hike with nearly 5,000 feet of vertical gain, and one of the best-kept secrets of SoCal.

Hiking from Angelus Oaks, this 16-mile out-and-back trail climbs over 4,600 vertical feet. It makes for a very long day hike or a great weekend...

Hiking | 22 miles (7.8 miles away)
This trip from July 2009 starts on the South Fork Trail, passes Dry Lake and connects with the Sky High Trail.  The descent loops back to the South Fork trail by crossing the Dollar Lake saddle. Our original intent was to head up the South Fork trail via Dollar Lake Saddle, but along the way we decided to make a longer day of things and made the loop passing Dry Lake up to...

Forest Falls, California, United States
Hiking | 17.3 miles (11.3 miles away)
Hiked this as the finale to my Six Pack of Peaks training plan for the JMT. Terrific weather and a long, strenuous (but rewarding) hike. I really enjoyed the forested section that paralleled Vivian Creek. The higher sections are very exposed, but offer terrific panoramic views. This is an all-day affair, so plan for an early start. We started hiking at 6am, and with breaks, got back to our car at 6pm....

Angelus Oaks to San Bernardino Peak
by jeffhester on Jun 19, 2010
Angelus Oaks, California, United States
Hiking | 14.1 miles (7.6 miles away)
This is an amazing trail in so many ways.San Bernardino Peak is the third highest peak in Southern California, yet very few people have heard of it (everyone knows about San Gorgonio and San Jacinto). The trail is less-traveled as a result. But what really surprised me was the spectacular 360 degree views. Great views out over the inland empire as well as the high deserts to the east. We even caught...

Champion Lodgepole Pine Trail
by myrison on Jun 15, 2011
Boulder Bay, California, United States
Hiking | 1.3 miles (3.9 miles away)
Short easy trail to walk. We went with two ~3 year olds who alternated between walking and being carried. The hike is short enough that this is doable. There are a few creeks along the trail and a great meadow at the end of the trail with a 400 year-old Champion Pine. The drive in from the main road is NOT easy and we decided to walk instead of brave the huge...

San Gorgonio 17 peaks dayhike
by eLDe on Sep 04, 2010
Angelus Oaks, California, United States
Hiking | 29 miles (11.7 miles away)
The 17 peak San Gorgonio traverse was one hike I’ve been wanting to do for awhile now. I was finally was able to persuade two of my good hiking friends, Brian Mason and Bill Simpson to accompany me over Labor Day weekend. I had mapped out the traverse from Fish Fork trailhead and ending at Angelus Oaks trailhead, which worked out to around 37 miles. Bill suggested a few changes, which consisted...

Forsee Creek Trail to Johns Meadow Camp
by rmceoin on Sep 07, 2009
The Pines (historical), California, United States
Hiking | 6.2 miles (5.8 miles away)
Took an easy hike to Johns Meadow Camp.   For the area this is one of the more flat hikes without much elevation gain.  Just before getting to the camp, you cross the Forsee Creek which was running even in September.

Angelus Oaks to San Bernardino Peak

Angelus Oaks, California, United States
Hiking | 7.6 miles (7.8 miles away)
A geotagged walk from behind Angelus Oaks, CA to just below the summit of San Bernardino. We turned around just past Washington's monument. Been on top before, and the view's a lot better from the bench right below the monument anyway. All together, fourteen and a half miles, 4,400 feet of elevation gain and loss. More than I'd normally do, but I think that not taking my big camera bag made life easier....

by CCF_Hiker on Oct 24, 2009

Hiking | 24 miles (11.2 miles away)
This day hike, while listed at 24.5 miles, actually tracked at 26.5. It includes six peaks from the Hundred Peaks Section (HPS) of the Sierra Club. The six peaks in order were; Dragons Head, Bighorn Mountain, San Gorgonio, Jepson, Little Chartlon, and Charlton. We originially set out to include six additional peaks (Dobbs, Alto Diablo, Shields, Anderson, San Bernadino East, San Bernadino, but simply ran out of time as we were moving...

Momyer Creek Trail to Alta Diablo May 17-18, 2008
by melonman on May 17, 2008
Forest Falls, California, United States
Hiking | 22 miles (10.8 miles away)
We were pretty weak on Saturday, hiking in only around seven or eight miles before setting up camp at Saxton Camp around 8,300. The second day we planned to hike to Dollar Lake Saddle then cut across the San Bernardino divide to East San Bernardino Peak and down a trace-trail back to the truck. We got as far as Alta Diablo Peak (or so we thought) at 10,550. Turns...
